The inspiration for Red Collar Project spring/summer 2010 collection is found in the novel ‘Great
expectations’ by Charles Dickens. Mr Pip is an orphan being raised by his sister and her lazy slacker of
a husband. At his sister’s house, Pip is a boy without expectations. Until one day, when Pip is told he has
inherited a sum of money from an anonymous benefactor, a condition of which is that he must leave for
London immediately. There he must buy some clothes and become a gentleman, Pip accepts the condition.
In the spring/summer collection 2010, you will find inspiration from both sides of Mr Pips life. It’s up
to you to choose and make a statement between ‘gentleman vs slacker’...
The colour scale goes from dusty neutrals such as off-white, grey melange, khaki and black, to blues
ranging from light to royal blue and navy. Plus deeper tones such as grass green and lilac. Also
important are the accent colours in dusty pastels, including pink, lilac and green juxtaposed with bright
tomato red. Checks are important as usual, together with vertical, horizontal and structure stripes.
Other important details are dots, fabric mixing, and structures such as cables and waffle-knits. Raw
edges give a perfect balance between scruffy and preppy.
